sandra-westSandra is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Sandra has spent the last 20 years of her professional career working in the pharmaceutical and laboratory testing industry. As someone who suffers from non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), she has made it her goal to help others develop a healthy lifestyle based on preventative health and good nutrition. She has fully embraced her passion by becoming a Certified Nutrition Practitioner, Certified Gluten Educator, and a member of the American Academy of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). Sandra is currently working to complete her Masters degree in Holistic Health and Nutrition.

Sandra has undergone excessive training in this area of Integrative nutrition. Her coursework is from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Training Program. During her training, Sandra studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts.

Her teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University. Sandra has completed certification in Anti-Inflammatory health and nutrition under Dr. Andrew Weil, University of Arizona School of Integrative Medicine. She also earned accreditation in Plant based Nutrition from Cornell University. Her education has equipped her with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and knowledge of different dietary theories, Sandra will work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.

Besides being an expert in Integrative Nutrition, Sandra is also 1 of only 10 certified gluten practitioners in the state of North Carolina. She is a member of the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), Gluten free society, Friendship Gardens, an inner city organic gardening initiative that creates local food sources for meals-on-wheels recipients, and partners with Together We Feed.

As part of a healthy lifestyle, Sandra has always had a love for physical fitness and the outdoors. Early in her career she was an avid cyclist, competing in several Century rides biking more than 100 miles at a time. She has participated in several cycling events throughout Boston and New York City. In addition to riding, she was also a competitive runner taking part in several ½ marathons and marathons in Hartford, CT and Charlotte, NC. Recently, Sandra switched her physical regimen to hiking and mountain climbing. Her two greatest conquests were climbing MT Kilimanjaro in Africa and MT Ausengate in Peru.

Sandra’s greatest accomplishment in life is her family. She currently resides in Waxhaw with her two handsome boys, Ben and Colby. The family is active within their church and the boys’ schools. Although they are very busy, they still find time to volunteer their time to several organizations within the community. Their most recent cause has been to animal rescue. They have recently rescued four dogs and two nurse mare foals.
