The more skin that is showing, the more you need to protect it in the summer! Let your true beauty shine this season by nourishing your skin with a healthy diet, lifestyle and a few natural remedies. Often, we forget that you need to nurture your skin from the inside AND out. Remember, what you eat makes the basic building blocks of all your tissues and cells that includes skin cells.

For great skin from the inside, try these!

great-skinWater
You should be drinking at least half of your body weight in ounces every day. Your body, made up of 75% water, requires an ample amount of water to keep your skin hydrated and free of toxins. Staying hydrated not only helps slow the aging process but it also prevents clogged pores!

Essential Fatty Acids
These good fats surround your cells, keep water and nutrients inside and allow toxins and waste to easily pass out of your body. Healthy skin is made up of plump water filled cells with strong and stable membranes. If you don’t have enough essential fatty acids the cells become weakened leading to dry, aging skin. Try extra virgin olive oil, walnuts, wild caught salmon, avocados, flax seeds, and coconut oil.

Antioxidants
To help protect and repair cells, antioxidants are key. They can counteract the main contributors of skin again like cigarette smoke, sun overexposure, and environmental chemicals. Try berries, white tea and brightly colored vegetables and fruit.
